10 Facts About Me and My Better Half

Betty Beguiles inspired me to write this post. You can check out her post here. While you are there please check out the comment box for more fun posts like this one!

1. We met 20 years ago in high school. I was a freshman, and he was a junior. We talked on the phone every day for six weeks before he asked me to be his girlfriend.

2. He is tall, blond haired and blue-eyed, athletic, a prankster, and obsessed with the news. I am short, have brown eyes and hair, love to sing when no one is listening, very shy, and carry a book everywhere I go.

Daybook March 26, 2011

Outside my window... a cold but sunny day.

I am thinking... "I am not capable of doing big things, but I want to do everything, even the smallest things, for the greater glory of God." ~ Saint Dominic Savio

I am thankful for... Chris. He understands that a day away at a Catholic homeschool conference is made even more special when it becomes an over night trip shared with other homeschooling moms.

Yarn Along

Earlier this week I finished a broken rib dishcloth. I am not very happy with it because I think it looks a little funny. Right now I am working on a garter stitch dishcloth because the eyelet dishcloth pattern I was looking at looked like more than I can handle right now.

Garden Additions

In addition to the lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower I planted last week,  I recently planted spinach, shallots, and red and white onions. This is the first time that I have planted onions and spinach. I have only planted broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage in the early spring before this year. I am excited to watch them grow.

Yarn Along

Linking up again with Ginny at Small Things for Yarn Along.

I am knitting a ribbed scarf in a chunky wool blend yarn in a gray-green color. I am ready to move on from scarves especially now that the weather is warming up. Yesterday I purchased new needles and some 100 percent cotton yarn, and I will soon be moving on to knitting dishcloths. I know dishcloths are no more exciting than scarves, but I feel like I need to get a little more experience before I move on to more challenging project.

Book List of Irish Tales

We love to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. I grew up in a home that never mentioned the holiday, but Chris's family is proud of their Irish ancestry. I plan a big meal, the boys make a few crafts, and we love to read books about luck and leprechauns.

It can be a difficult task to explain sacrifice to a child. I have found that when explaining sacrifice to my children it is helpful to tell them about the great sacrifice that God made for us by giving us His Son, Jesus. I tell them that His sacrifice was a gift to us, and that when we make sacrifices in our life we are giving God little gifts of love.

Tom's Favorite Gospel Story

As part of his preparation for First Holy Communion, Thomas was asked to draw a picture of his favorite Gospel story. He picked John 6 1-13. He calls it the story of the five loaves and two fish. I think he did a fabulous job.
