Yarn Along

Joining Ginny for Yarn Along this week.

I finished the first mitten from last week, and I cast on the second one last night. I am still knitting dishcloths and the scarf for my father-in-law.

He is a fan of Doctor Who, and when he first found out I had taught myself to knit he said to me one day, "Have you ever noticed Doctor Who's scarf? Man, that is a nice scarf. I would love to have one like it one day." So I started researching the Doctor Who scarf  that Tom Baker wore. He actually wore several different scarves during the years he played the Doctor. They varied in length, width, and a bit in color, but they were still pretty similar. I decided to use Lion Brand Wool-Ease because it is affordable and my local craft store carries it. The colors I went with are not identical to the original colors, but I think they are close. Also, I decided to use eight colors, but the Doctor Who scarf has seven or less.

The book on my nightstand is Foundling (Monster Blood Tattoo, Book 1), written by D.M. Cornish. On a recent trip to Barnes and Noble, I saw the book sitting on a display table. There was a review on the cover that stated it was reminiscent of J.R.R. Tolkien's books, so I had to buy. Since I have been knitting more than I have been reading, I am only on page three. I hope to be able to read more of it this week.
