What I Wore Sunday

Time for another What I Wore Sunday!

Sweater: knit by yours truly
Long sleeved top: Walmart
Skirt: Macy's
Patterned tights and shoes: Boscov's

I wore my two favorite pieces of jewelry today. The gold bangle belonged to my great-grandmother and was a gift to me from my grandmother when I was 25.  The blue agate mother and child ring was given to me by my mother during my pregnancy with my second son. We had suffered through almost 6 years of secondary infertility, so she wanted to give me something special.

My thoughts for today:

In Exodus, God saves the Israelites from the oppressive hand of the Egyptians. At first, they are happy, but their song of praise does not last long. They forget their slavery in Egypt and start to grumble about how bad they have it in the desert. God has compassion for them and gives them what they need. Over and over and over again. God is kind and merciful to them. Eventually with God's grace, Moses is able to lead the Israelites out of the wilderness and to the promised land. Finally, they are ready to enter the land that was promised to their fathers. God always loved them for who they are, but He wants them to be better. He knows they can be better, He gives them the kind of tough love that they need to become a great nation.

Today I am reminded that I am like the Israelites. I call out to the Lord in need. When my need is met, I am full of praise and thanksgiving. But it is not too long before I find myself grumbling about a new disappointment or demanding the new desire of my heart. God's love for me is like no other. He sees all of my flaws and loves me anyway. He wants me with Him, but He also knows that I can be so much more than I am. The Lord is kind and merciful. I am so very thankful for His love. A love that continues to nurture me so that I can be the best daughter, wife, mother, and friend. The woman that He knows I can be.

  3. Your sweater is so beautiful. It makes me want to learn how to knit. I also love your tights and shoes.

Jewelry with meaning is my favorite kind. I have my grandmother's pearl earrings, which I got for my 16th birthday, and a strand of her pearls, which I got for my college graduation. (There are perks to being the oldest granddaughter!). I cherish them, so I know how you feel about your bracelet. And that ring is gorgeous.

Aside from your great-looking outfit, what you wrote really inspired me today!

    1. Thanks!
I love to knit. I taught myself two years ago shortly after starting this blog. I was inspired by all the beautiful knit items I saw on other blogs. Knitting helps me relax.
I bet your pearls are so dear to you! How wonderful that you have them.

  5. Absolutely darling sweater! Is there a book you got the pattern from (you've got me all eager to try it!)?
And a great reflection too. I find I'm the same way...it's humbling to reflect on ourselves and realise all our own weaknesses.

  6. I'm in awe of the knitted sweater. I can knit, but I can't purl, so I'm up a creek. And your ring is just beautiful. What a thoughtful gift.

    1. It not as flattering when my hands aren't pinning it down! Ha! It bells out a little. It would be a great maternity sweater.
