In the garden ~ week 1

The strawberry plants that I planted last year are growing. I covered them with straw through the winter, following the instructions that I found online last fall. I was worried that they would not grow, but they look great!

Yarn Along

Knitting and reading! Joy!

I have picked up my scarf again. I love fingering weight yarn, so it is a pleasure to knit. I would like to get it off the needles soon. I have too many unfinished projects right now, and I want the satisfaction that comes from finishing one of them.

Why I Love My Husband

Today I am happy to join Kaitlin at More Like Mary ~ More Like Me for the Why I Love My Husband blog series.

Kaitlin explains,

"So the purpose of these posts isn't to gloss over the difficulties of marriage and pretend like nothing ever goes wrong. The purpose is to rejoice in the special and wonderful things our husbands do for us, to give them a much needed pat on the back, and to brag about how great our "other half" really is. Save the negative stuff for a priest or trusted friend-not a ladies night out.

If you'd like to reject a culture that says it's acceptable to tear down your husband, join me with this blog series!"

Amen! It has become popular to expose one's husband as a lazy, sloppy idiot that does not deserve the respect of his wife or his children. It is very sad and unacceptable way to portray any person, especially one's other half.

So why do I love my husband? Let me share with you several of the many reasons that my love for Chris is abundant.

{pretty, happy, funny, real} hanging with cousins and building a trampoline

round button chicken
~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. ~

The weather was absolutely beautiful yesterday. The temperature reached into the upper 80's. My sister-in-law, Kelly, sent me a text early in the morning to invite us over for a trampoline building party. We turn everything into a party. We live in the same neighborhood, with only five houses between us. It makes getting together very easy, and I love living so close to family. The boys and I finished their schoolwork as quickly as we could, and then we went to Kelly's house for a day of fun in her backyard.

This tulip magnolia at the edge of Kelly's driveway is just beginning to bloom. I love it.

What I Wore the Day After My Birthday

Or the title could be What I Could Not Wear After My Birthday and Easter Week! UGH!
Seriously, I am in trouble ladies. My scale told me that I am 13 pounds heavy today. Yes, 13 pounds! My clothes are all too tight. Even my "big" stuff is tight.

Time to get back on track. The celebrating has to stop.

Well, after I finish off the last piece of  my birthday cheesecake! Yummy! After all, my birthday only happens once a year!

Yarn Along

Linking up at Small Things for Yarn Along this week.

I have not finished my scarf or my pink sweater. I am taking a short break from both of them. Currently, I am knitting this panel of XO cable. I plan on attaching it to a felted bag that I am still working on.

Happy Easter!

Easter Sunday was gray, cool, and wet, but it was a still a beautiful day.
Easter is my favorite day of the year. I look forward to going to Mass and saying/singing Alleluia. It truly is the happiest day of the year!

We took a bunch of pictures before Mass. Several of them were hilarious. Chris and Holden are so difficult to get a decent picture of because they make the weirdest faces! I hope the younger boys keep their easy smiles as they grow up. Plus, it is hard to get nice close up pictures of us because of our height differences.
