{pretty, happy, funny, real} hanging with cousins and building a trampoline

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. ~

The weather was absolutely beautiful yesterday. The temperature reached into the upper 80's. My sister-in-law, Kelly, sent me a text early in the morning to invite us over for a trampoline building party. We turn everything into a party. We live in the same neighborhood, with only five houses between us. It makes getting together very easy, and I love living so close to family. The boys and I finished their schoolwork as quickly as we could, and then we went to Kelly's house for a day of fun in her backyard.

{pretty}

This tulip magnolia at the edge of Kelly's driveway is just beginning to bloom. I love it.

{happy}

Kelly has backyard chickens. They make me happy.

{funny}

Annie, a German Shepherd, would not be left out of all the fun the boys were having with the hose.

I wish I knew what Ben was so excited about in this picture. I laugh every time I look at his face.

{real}

Building a trampoline is hard work! Our team consisted of two moms, five boys under 10 years old, and one dog. We got the job done, but next time we may need to wait until the bigger boys are around to help.

Wet cardboard. Yuck!

Who needs a ladder when you have a plastic chair?

  2. Her chicken coops is so cute! I'll probably need one soon ~ my chickens think the neighbors backyard is far superior to their own area.

  3. What a great chicken coop! We've been toying with the idea to get chickens (well, my children REALLY want them, but I'm satisfied with 2 dog, 1 guinea pig, 2 frogs and 1 goldfish)...But, I could give in with a set up like that! We, too, have a german shepard; very funny shot with her on her hind legs!

    1. It is a cute chicken coop. My brother-in-law grumbled something about the number of eggs they could have bought with the money they spent on the coop. Ha!

  5. love that coop! you are brave to build a trampoline with all the kids running around. I remember ours was difficult (and we used a camp chair for stairs --wonderfully dangerous--we've now upgraded to stumps!) Great pictures.

    1. Thanks! Yes, we realized how dangerous building the trampoline could be when a couple of springs went flying across the yard when we were trying to secure them. We made the boys stay on the other side of the yard while we finished the springs.

  7. Chickens are fun! :)
    The tulip magnolia has always been one of my favorite trees. My grandmother had one in her backyard when I was growing up.
