Yarn Along

Knitting and reading! Joy!

I have picked up my scarf again. I love fingering weight yarn, so it is a pleasure to knit. I would like to get it off the needles soon. I have too many unfinished projects right now, and I want the satisfaction that comes from finishing one of them.

I have not finished reading the Uglies series because I got a new book that I just could not wait to start reading. Laura Pearl is a friend that I met through blogging, and she is the author of the book Finding Grace.

Finding Grace tells the story of Grace Kelly, a teenager with glasses and frizzy hair, definitely not a princess. Her story starts in 1972 when Grace is thirteen years old, and she is feeling the awkwardness of her changing looks and the uncertainty of a changing world around her. With her Catholic faith and her family and friends by her side, Grace faces the challenges of growing up, falling in love, and staying true to God's plan for her life.

I am five chapters into Finding Grace, and I am hooked. So far, Laura Pearl's writing has been a delight to read, full of detail and depth, and rich with history about Plattsburgh, N.Y., Lake Champlain, and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. I can relate to Grace, having been a 13 year old Catholic girl with glasses, frizzy hair, and love for reading. Grace's family and friends are interesting. I can't wait to get to know them better.

Please visit Small Things to see all of the beautiful knitting projects and maybe find a few new books to add to your reading list. I know you won't be disappointed!
