Strawberries, a worm, and new additions ~ week 7

Thomas and I picked the first ripe strawberries this week. It made us so happy to pull the beautiful red strawberries off the plants.

Yarn Along

I have been knitting dishcloths. My old dishcloths are well loved and need to be replaced. Plus, I have had a request for them from a friend.

Pinterest Party & Link-up: Fun with soap

Bobbi at Revolution of Love Blog hosts a Pinterest Party & Link-up every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

I am linking-up my Fun with soap post from March. Bobbi promises that is a totally acceptable thing to do. You can link-up with a craft, project, or recipe that is not from Pinterest, too.

I love when the "rules" are simple and easy to follow!

Thanks, Bobbi, for hosting this party!

The boys are having fun with microwaved soap.

Check out my entire post here.

The original post with the directions can be found here.

Craft completed: double stranded bracelet and wire wrapped ring

The first time I saw the Blue Laguna Lace Agate melon beads, I knew I wanted to make a bracelet with them. I loved the blue and gray color combination and wanted to play up the blue. I bought several sizes and shades of blue Swarovski Elements Bicone crystal beads hoping they would be the perfect compliment to the beautiful natural stone.

Craft completed: my mother's bracelet

Holden and Thomas have June birthdays, and Ralph's birthday is in July. The traditional birthstone for the month of June is the pearl, and the ruby is the birthstone for July. Many styles of birthstone jewelry do not use pearls for the month of June. Instead, they replace it with a light amethyst stone. As much as I love purple, I knew I wanted to stick with pearls to represent my June boys. After several unsatisfactory attempts to create a bracelet that mixed pearls,  ruby colored crystal, and silver accent beads, I decided to make the entire bracelet with pearls and small crystal accents.

Five Favorites #1

Joining the lovely Hallie for Five Favorites this week.

1. Finding Grace, written by Laura Pearl
Finding Grace tells the story of Grace Kelly, a teenager with glasses and frizzy hair, definitely not a princess. Her story starts in 1972 when Grace is thirteen years old, and she is feeling the awkwardness of her changing looks and the uncertainty of a changing world around her. With her Catholic faith and her family and friends by her side, Grace faces the challenges of growing up, falling in love, and staying true to God's plan for her life.
I finished reading Finding Grace on Monday night, and I really enjoyed it! It is full of interesting characters, historical details, and Catholic to its core. Definitely a new favorite!

WIWS and St. Rita

Joining the lovely ladies at Fine Linen and Purple again for What I Wore Sunday.
Yesterday was Sunday and Mother's Day. I hope everyone had a wonderful day.
Below is the only picture that was taken of me yesterday. It is not the best. Don't you just love the smile that screams, "Quick! Take the picture because the wind is trying to blow my sweater off and the neighbors are watching!"

Craft completed: bird's nest pendants

One of the first things I made when I started working with beads and wire was a bird's nest pendant. I enjoy making things, and I love birds, so it was definitely at the top of my jewelry project list. I checked out a couple tutorials, bought my materials, and went to work on my first bird's nest. I decided while watching the tutorials that I preferred the look of a messy nest, so I had fun bending, kinking, and wrapping the wire into a  nest. I made two that first day, and I thought they turned out lovely. I knew that they would be a perfect gift to give to any mom for future holidays and celebrations.

Flowers for Our Mother Mary

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Theme Thursday: Mom

This is my first time joining the fun over at Clan Donaldson for Theme Thursday.

The theme is Mom.

My relationship with my mother is not a traditional one. She did not raise me, and, in fact, there were many long periods in my childhood when I did not see or talk to her.
She became more involved in my life when I was around the age of twelve. It was hard to build a relationship with her. I had a lot of hurt feelings and questions. I did not know if I wanted or needed her to be my mother or my friend. I am sure she had her own insecurities and concerns about what our relationship with each other should look like.

A full weekend and WIWS

For two days and two nights, we had four extra boys in our house!
Fun, fun, fun, and just a little crazy!
That gave us a total of six boys between the ages of 10 and 3 years old, plus a giant 16 year old.
There were Nerf gun wars, hours spent building sand castles and Legos, Beyblade battles, and Wii games. The weekend was full of special treats like hot dogs, oatmeal cream pies, and pop-tarts.
The cousins had a great time together.

My Cross or My Blessed Life - My Decision

It has been a year since my last miscarriage.

I am 37 years old now, and I feel like that miscarriage may be my last.

I have not been handling that thought well at all. I have been sick with a cold, and I have spent way too much of my time on the couch stuck in my head, thinking about all my lost babies and wondering if there will be anymore. My anxiety level has been high, and I have not been the most positive person to be around.
