A full weekend and WIWS

For two days and two nights, we had four extra boys in our house!
Fun, fun, fun, and just a little crazy!
That gave us a total of six boys between the ages of 10 and 3 years old, plus a giant 16 year old.
There were Nerf gun wars, hours spent building sand castles and Legos, Beyblade battles, and Wii games. The weekend was full of special treats like hot dogs, oatmeal cream pies, and pop-tarts.
The cousins had a great time together.

This morning we split up for Mass. I was up to the challenge of taking all the boys to Mass, after all, Chris's sister and her husband take eight children to Mass all the time. But Chris, his sister, and brother-in-law all told me I was asking for trouble. My sister-in-law said with a smile, "Most of the time we take all of them because it is necessary with our schedule, but we split up when we can." So Chris went to an early Mass with Thomas and cousin Jack. Then Holden and I went to the last morning Mass, and truth be told, I was so thankful to be able to concentrate on the Mass. Father's homily was excellent. After the way I have been feeling, being fully present at Mass, body and mind, was just what I needed. I left church feeling refreshed and happy.

We sang this song, Christ in Me Arise, this morning. I have heard the song before, but it fit my feelings perfectly today.

This is what I wore to Mass:

Several of these pieces are repeats. The cardigan and shoes are from Kohl's, bought last year. The skirt is several years old from Macy's, and the t-shirt is from Walmart. You can see my earrings, but I want to tell you about them because I made them.
Here is a picture:

They are silver-plated wire, green Swarovski Elements Bicones, and multi-colored glass teardrop beads. I make cardstock holders, like the one in the picture, for all of my earrings with my old scrapbooking supplies. It helps me to keep them organized. I enjoy making jewelry almost as much as I love knitting. Knitting is just a tiny bit more relaxing.

I will stop rambling on and on! Please check out the other lovely ladies that link up for What I Wore Sunday.

Thank you Mandi at Messy Wife, Blessed Life for hosting What I Wore Sunday this week
Congratulations to Emily and her new husband! May they be blessed with many years and much love!

  1. I love the way the lime green looks with the dark blue...those colors go together so well!

    1. Thanks! My husband loves that shade of green, so I wear it for him. :)

  2. You know I'm a fan of denim and lime green! Fashion aside, I'm so glad you had the chance to rest your spirit at Mass. I can't imagine what you're experiencing, but I'm pretty sure you're handling it much better than I would.

Also, I love the wide open space surrounding your home! Growing up in Iowa and now living in metro Detroit, I miss open land sometimes. Perhaps not the smell of manure, but the feel of open land. ;)

    Have a wonderful week!

    1. Thanks, Rakhi.
We love the open feeling of our neighborhood, although, some of that space will eventually have houses. Our neighborhood is surrounded by farms, so we do get to "enjoy" the fresh smell of manure and old cabbage from time to time! Ha!

  3. Those earrings are must haves! This is one of my favorite color and blue! lovely as always. I also like your gored denim skirt. classic!

  4. Erica, you are such a good aunt and mother! Those boys made some great memories this weekend! The earrings are beautiful and a great color combination.

    1. Thank you for your kind comment. :)

  5. First of all, y'all have thee most incredible backyard. So jealous! :) Loving the green and blue!!

  6. I like the earrings! Were they hard to make? They match perfectly.

    1. Thank you!
No, they were not too hard to make. Have you worked with wire/jewelry making before?
