Catholic Woman's Almanac

Thankful for
~ hot coffee
~ clean floors
~ sunshine
~ our homeschool group

"The greatest fault among those who have a good will is that they wish to be something they cannot be, and do not wish to be what they necessarily must be. They conceive desires to do great things for which, perhaps, no opportunity may ever come to them, and meantime neglect the small which the Lords puts in their hands."
St. Francis de Sales

Praying for
~ Monsignor Dan
~ couples with infertility
~ people that defend our country, for their safety and peace of mind for their families

Home Education
~ We are finishing up our school year, and we are ready for a break. Chris and I are heading to a Catholic homeschool conference in June. We are looking forward to it!

In the craft room
~ knitting: scarf, toddler vest, dish cloths
~ jewelry: a bracelet and a ring
~ sewing: a liner for a felted bag

In the kitchen
~ green salad with an assortment of toppings
~ spaghetti with tomato sauce
~ "cheesy" pasta casserole (vegan)
~ shrimp jambalaya
~ chili
~ salmon, potatoes, and broccoli

In the garden
~ I have lost almost half of my romaine lettuce plants. I have no idea why. All of the other plants are looking good. I will put in peppers and cucumbers soon.
~The pictures were taken around my yard this month.~

  1. The frog picture is neat; great capture. Thanks for the St Francis quote. That is one to post on the fridge, the steering wheel, the bathroom mirror, etc.

    1. Thanks! I agree the quote needs to be everywhere!

  2. Awesome photos. :-) I also love the quote. I am adding that to my prayer journal. I've never made jambaylaya but that sounds really good. I'll have to search pinterest for a recipe. :-)

    1. Thanks! Jambalaya is a favorite with the guys in the house.

  3. The here and now -- thank you for the reminder, Erica.

I'm hoping to have clean floors this week, too :-)

  4. Lately I've fallen into the trap of comparing myself to others whom I admire and feeling I fall short, instead of just trying to be the best me I can be--and being happy as the person God made me to be. I needed to read that St. Francis de Sales quote--thanks for posting it!

    1. Oh Laura, I understand that! I can get caught up in the comparison trap, too. It is a losing game. I am glad the quote spoke to you today.
By the way, I think you are an extraordinary lady! :)

  5. Love Love Love the toad picture!

And the quote? Like others have said - it's perfect for my reality today. Thank you!

    1. That toad! The boys and I sat on the front steps and watched him for a long time. I am sure he had no idea how happy he made us that afternoon. :)

  6. Coffee! It's what I am currently drinking.
We have toads in our yard. Why do boys insist on picking them up? And why do dogs lick them? lol
I am sincerely jealous of anyone who is done with school. I've got weeks because I started late and we had sickness in our homeschool group this year. Next year, we start early!

    Great post.

    1. It is hard to finish some years. We have had to work through the summer a couple times.

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave a friendly comment! :-)
