Craft completed: bird's nest pendants

One of the first things I made when I started working with beads and wire was a bird's nest pendant. I enjoy making things, and I love birds, so it was definitely at the top of my jewelry project list. I checked out a couple tutorials, bought my materials, and went to work on my first bird's nest. I decided while watching the tutorials that I preferred the look of a messy nest, so I had fun bending, kinking, and wrapping the wire into a  nest. I made two that first day, and I thought they turned out lovely. I knew that they would be a perfect gift to give to any mom for future holidays and celebrations.

I wanted to do something nice for several of my friends this week. They are such sweet women and wonderful mothers to their children. I decided to make them bird's nest pendants, with each mom's pendant having an egg (bead) for each one of her children.

The first two bird's nests I made with hematite colored coated wire and jasper beads. The first one has three beads of dyed imperial jasper, and the second pendant has eight beads of natural fancy jasper. I attached each of these pendants to a 18 inch chain and added a little bird charm.

The next three pendants I made using silver plated coated wire. The first one has three fresh water pearls, the middle one has three sodalite beads and two rose quartz beads, and the last one has seven natural fancy jasper beads. I decided to turn these three pendants into key chains.

I had so much fun making these and even more fun giving them to my friends!

Have you completed a craft project recently? If so, please leave a comment. I would love to hear about it.

I may have to try to copy this idea; I love how there's an egg for each child. It's a perfect gift for a mom. :)
