Five Favorites #1

Joining the lovely Hallie for Five Favorites this week.

1. Finding Grace, written by Laura Pearl
Finding Grace tells the story of Grace Kelly, a teenager with glasses and frizzy hair, definitely not a princess. Her story starts in 1972 when Grace is thirteen years old, and she is feeling the awkwardness of her changing looks and the uncertainty of a changing world around her. With her Catholic faith and her family and friends by her side, Grace faces the challenges of growing up, falling in love, and staying true to God's plan for her life.
I finished reading Finding Grace on Monday night, and I really enjoyed it! It is full of interesting characters, historical details, and Catholic to its core. Definitely a new favorite!

In March, I started cleansing with a mixture of Castor oil, Grapeseed oil, Olive oil, and Tea Tree oil. It makes my skin feel so soft and clean, but not oily or tight. Last month I bought a bottle of Argan Oil to use as a moisturizer. I mix a couple drops into my BB Cream in the morning and use it alone on my face and neck at night. It absorbs quickly and does not feel greasy. Over the last couple weeks, I have had several women comment about how different, better, and younger my skin looks. Such nice compliments. I know it is the oil!

I had not used nail polish in years, but a few weeks ago I passed these glittery colors while shopping and just had to have them for my toes. Yes, I have sparkly toes, and I so love them! These colors look dark in the bottle, but they go on sheer. I have had fun layering them and trying different combinations.
Fun, fun, fun!

My mother bought me the Zumba Exhilarate DVD set with weights back in the Fall. It comes with seven different discs, ranging from beginner to advanced. The workouts vary in time from 20 minutes to an hour.  I was new to Zumba and had no idea what to expect. Plus, I have no dancing skills at all. For years my workouts consisted of running or following along with Denise Austin, Billy Blanks, Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. Ha! My first attempt at Zumba was hilarious and a total fail, but it was so much fun that I just kept working at it. Now, I know all the steps, and I am still having fun.
And the best part is that I am dripping wet with sweat after every workout!

I came across this recipe at Posed Perfection recently and made them right away. I doubled the recipe which gave me 25 good sized balls. I used flaxseed meal in place of the ground almonds and equal parts natural smooth and natural crunchy peanut butter. I toasted unsweetened flaked coconut in the oven at 375 degrees until the tips were golden brown. Also, I did not use mini chocolate chips. I used what I always keep in the house, Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Chips. Then I mixed everything together, formed them into balls, and refrigerated them. Our bites needed about an hour and a half in the refrigerator to set. One ball is the perfect serving size, but I think my husband would disagree with me. He always eats two at a time!

  1. Erica, my friend-- I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And thank you so much for giving it such a nice plug on your wonderful blog. (Not just here, but in your "Yarn Along" posts.)

I always feel a little nervous and vulnerable when I know someone's reading my book, so I'm thrilled to see you list it as a "Favorite." Thanks for your kindness and support. :)
