My Favorite School Items for Preschoolers {Five Favorites #2}

Joining the lovely Hallie for Five Favorites this week.

Sharing my five favorite school items for preschoolers.

1. Kumon workbooks - Some children and even parents do not like workbooks, but Ralph loves them. This school year he completed My First Book of Mazes and My Book of Numbers 1-30. He is currently working on My First Book of Uppercase Letters, My First Book of Lowercase Letters, and My Book of Simple Addition.

2. My Jesus and I - I love this book. It is beautifully illustrated, and it is very easy for young children to memorize the text. It teaches the Guardian Angel Prayer, Hail Mary, Our Father, and Glory Be.

3. Tomie dePaola books - I am sure you already know about Tomie dePaola's books because they are just that good! Some of our favorites are Jamie O'Rourke and the Pooka, Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato, and Front Porch Tales and Big Country Whoppers.

4. Explode the Code Primer series -  These books are great. This is the first year I am using them, and I have not been disappointed with them. I wish I had used them with my older boys. Ralph looks forward to using them on school days.

5. Nickelodeon Fit for the Wii - This game is great for young children that want to have a video game like the older kids in the house. Plus it is an activity game that keeps children moving. If your child likes Dora, Diego, the Backyardigans, and Kai-lan then this game is perfect for them. The only downside is that it is a one player game.

 All of the items kept Ralph happy through the school year and made him feel like he was doing school just like his big brothers.

  1. I love the Explode the Code preschool books, too. They are wonderful! And of course, anything Tomie de Paola has to be fantastic. I will have to check out the other resources you mentioned. Neat post, Erica! : )

  2. I keep meaning to check out Explore the Code!

  3. Isn't Kumon the best? We devour those over here. Thanks for the great recommendations, Erica!

  4. John Paul loves his Kumon maze book! At first I was skeptical because I thought it would only be single-use and he whipped through that thing in a morning. But then he started doing it again in a different color crayon. And then again in another color. And again in marker... And I think he's gone through it like, 10 times!

    1. That is cool, Rosie!
      I was worried about how fast Ralph would move through it to, so the first time he went through it I made him use his finger. The next time around he was allowed to use his pencil.

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave a friendly comment! :-)
