Better Health: 20 Days Later

It has been twenty days since I wrote about the goals that I had made to better my health.

The Update
I stepped on the scale this morning, and it informed me that I gained five pounds! Ugh!

But! But! But! My prayer life has never been better. I consider that a huge step in the right direction. I have been making the time daily to sit quietly to pray and talk with God. I have been doing this several times a day, most days. I feel happy and hopeful. And that, my friends, is why I am smiling in that not so lovely picture you see there to the left.

Truly, I think this has been my most fruitful Lenten season ever.

At least, for my spirit.

Not so much for my body.

The New Plan
The good news is that there is still time for me to move forward in my steps towards better health. I am going to clean my diet up even more. I am going to start counting Weight Watchers points again. I know that my snacking is a bit excessive so I could give up eating between meals up, but I know counting points will keep all my portions under control.

As for my exercising, it has to improve. I have been doing great with my yoga workout, but my cardio has been almost nonexistent. I think that I have completed my cardio goals only five times since I started my new schedule. I started my cardio workout many other days, but I felt so worn out that I quickly gave up. I know I need to be gentle with myself, so setting a goal of walk/running for 30 minutes a day was probably setting myself up for failure after being sick and sedentary for several months. My new goal is 25 minutes, four times a week. I will add more time or extra days as my endurance increases.

I am excited about my new diet and exercise plan. Since my prayer time is going so well, I am going to continue with my original goals.

I am linking up at Fine Linen and Purple for What I Wore Sunday because that is the outfit that I wore to Mass.

I threw this outfit together at the last minute when I realized that it was pouring rain outside. My thought was that the bright yellow top would be cheery, but it looks bad. Oh well, to the donate pile it goes!

The Details
cardigan - JC Penney (last year)
top - Sam's Club (last year)
corduroys - Target
boots - TJ Maxx (about 8 years old)

One last thing, I am giving away four bracelets that I made. Today, March 31st, is the last day to enter. Please take a minute to enter to win one.
