Becoming a Fascinating Woman

About three weeks ago, I wrote about the book Fascinating Womanhood and how it helped me to be a better wife. You can read it here.

Fascinating Womanhood, written in 1963 by Helen B. Andelin, teaches every woman how to lovingly support her husband and in turn, gain his respect and admiration so that they will have a romance that lasts a lifetime.

Clap Happy, Food, Perspective, Saints {AMT and WIWS}

1. Do you hate happy clappy church music?

Sort of. I do not like it in church, but I do not mind it outside of the church. When we went to the nondenominational church years ago, they had a worship band and the first 15 or 20 minutes were spent singing and clapping and sometimes hand gestures. I think that stuff is fine for a conference or gathering, but definitely not Mass.

2. What is your priority: eating or sleeping?

Have you seen me recently? Eating! Of course, I want to be healthy, so I am always reading about diet, and its effects on hormones, blood sugar, and fertility. I put on weight very easily, so when I am eating right it shows. And when I eat poorly it shows more!

Advice from Me during Infertility Awareness Week {7 Quick Takes}

As a young girl, more than anything, I wanted a family. I felt God was calling me to be a wife and mother to many children (at least five).

I became a mother at the young age of twenty. Thank God that I did. I had no idea that I would experience years of infertility, and so many painful miscarriages.

This week is Infertility Awareness Week.

I was not sure if I was going to write about infertility because, as the mother of three children, I did not know if it would be right for me to talk about infertility. So many woman suffering from infertility will never experience pregnancy, nor hold their child in their arms. I certainly did not want to cause pain to them by writing about my struggles, while listening to my children play around me.

Perfect Day, Home, Health, Clothes {a Liebster}

Amelia at One Catholic Mama tagged me for a Liebster. I have read the Liebster called an online game and likened to an online chain letter. Overall, it is a way to share information. It's a bit of fun!

Here are my answers to Amelia's questions.

1. Describe your perfect day.

Answer Me This and WIWS

Kendra at Catholic All Year has started a new link-up called Answer Me This.She asks questions, and you can link-up if you have a blog or leave your answers in the comments on her blog. It's fun!

1. What time do you prefer to go to Mass?

  I prefer to go to the Saturday vigil Mass, but Chris has to work late on Saturday so we always go to the 11:00am Sunday morning Mass.

2. Would you rather be too hot or too cold?

  I would rather be too hot. I do not like being cold. Sweating is not fun, but I find it preferable to shaking uncontrollably.

1. This morning the kids made Resurrection Eggs while at our homeschool group meeting. We brought twelve plastic eggs, and egg carton, and the small items to stick into the eggs. Putting My Best Face Forward {Five Favorites}

I turned 38 years old on Sunday. I have to admit that there is something that feels comfortable about being in my late thirties. I am gaining confidence as I age. Even with the extra weight I am carrying around, I feel more sure of myself. I know who I am; wife, mom, daughter, friend, and I like who I am.

When I was younger, I used to think that I needed a ton of make-up to look nice. My daily make-up routine involved eleven different products. These days I use five basic products first thing in the morning, and they get me through my day. Well, except for the occasional extra swipe of lip color or a touch of lip balm.

I put them on in the order listed below. It takes me only a couple minutes to apply them. Quick and easy!

A Birthday and a Book About Marriage

Yesterday was my birthday. I had a wonderful day. We started the day slow. Chris and the boys let me sleep in. Then Chris cooked me an egg, which I ate with fresh avocado while sipping on black coffee.

I received many messages from family and friends, wishing me a happy birthday. Abby called me from college, and we had a nice long chat.
Unfortunately, that left me with little time to fix my hair before Mass, so back in a twist in went.

After Mass, my mother stopped by for a visit. She brought me several gifts. She always spoils me.

I had a lazy afternoon, reading and hanging out with my family.

Then we had a tasty dinner or crab cakes, shrimp, french fries, and coleslaw, and cheesecake for dessert.

Then I read some more and went to bed early. It was a fabulous day.

Giveaway Winners

Thank you to everyone who left left a comment for one of my bracelets. I appreciate your kind compliments.

I told you that I would pick the winners the old fashioned way. Mason jars are very useful. I just love them.

I wrote all of your comments down on slips of paper and put them into the appropriate jars.

Then I shook them up and picked the winners.
