Answer Me This, a Graduation, and an Update

While Kendra and her family are in France, Haley at Carrots for Michaelmas is hosting Answer Me This. Thanks, Haley!

1. What's the scariest thing that's ever been in your yard?

A big dog. I wish we had a fence. We like dogs and we would like to adopt one, but we want a fence first so our dog can stay with us, and other people's dogs can stay with them.

2. Beards. Thumbs up or thumbs down?

I am not into beards, but I love sideburns. Longish, bushy sideburns. Mutton chops are great!

3. If stuff breaks, can you fix it?

Well, that depends on what breaks. I can glue things together, and if someone has taught me how to fix it then I can probably fix it the next time it breaks. Overall, I am not the fixer in the family. Chris has that job, and he is good at it.

4. What was your first car?

A late 1980's Pontiac Sunbird SE two door coupe. My grandfather owned a car dealership, and he gave it to me. I drove around town with the windows down blaring The Lost Boys soundtrack, Big Audio Dynamite, The Cure, and Prince way too loud.

5. How often do you eat out?

Not often. I cook most of the time. Chris and I go on about three dinner dates per year, and occasionally we will get take out Chinese food for the family. I will eat out a couple nights a year with the moms in our homeschool group, and I will grab lunch with a friend occasionally. However, I am a big believer in weekly or biweekly date night with your spouse. I think it is important to spend time alone with each other, but it does not have to involve eating out if that is not in the budget.

6. Why is your hair like that?

Hair! I love talking about hair. I wrote a long post all about my hair last week. All About My Hair

-------------------------------------

On May 9th, we had our May Crowning with our homeschool group. I think this is my favorite thing that we do all year long.

Then we had a little graduation ceremony for my oldest son, Holden. It was informal and fun, just the way we like to do things. I even let him wear his Kingdom Hearts Heartless t-shirt.

He starts his first college class on May 27th. He is attending a local community college to get his associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography. We are very proud of him.

Edited to add: A friend and fellow homeschooling mom sent me a few pictures this afternoon that she took of Holden's graduation ceremony. I loved two of them so much that I had to add them to this post!

----------------------------

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for my grandmother. She passed away last night. I was with her, as were her three daughters. We will miss her, but we know that she is no longer suffering.

  1. I love that he is wearing a shirt that is important to him. That is wonderful. I am sorry for the loss of your grandmother.

    1. He was happy that I didn't make him wear a button down shirt, like he has to when we go to mass.
