Buses, Cousins, and Cats {Answer Me This}

This week I am joining Kendra at Catholic All Year for Answer Me This again. It may or may not be true, but it has been called the internet's favorite virtual cocktail party. It certainly is a fun way to get to know other bloggers and a few blog readers better.

1. How often do you ride public transportation?

I have lived in the same city my entire life, and it did not have public transportation when I was growing up. I wish it had because that I would have used it the summer I spent walking home from my summer gym class (ah, summer gym was the only way to avoid the locker room. I dislike locker rooms very much!). There is an active bus system now, but I never use it. My mother started working as a bus driver a couple years ago. I have been thinking about showing up with the boys one day and surprising her by riding with her around town. The boys get excited when we pass her bus on the road. And she looks pretty in her bus uniform, but she hates it.

2. How many cousins do you have?

I have four first cousins, on my mother's side of the family. And they are the only cousins that I really know. My cousin Tanya and I were raised together in our grandparents home. Our mothers are sisters, and my cousin and I were born a month apart. Tanya and I were together all through school, but we weren't really friends, although we have a good relationship now. My other cousins are much younger than me, and most of my spending money in high school came from baby-sitting them.

summer 2013

Currently, my boys have nine cousins, and there will be two more cousins born this fall. My husband's sister has eight children and is pregnant with twins. His brother has one daughter and plans to have more children in the future. Plus, Chris still has two more sisters that are in high school and college that have yet to get married and have children. I am happy that my boys have so many cousins. We have the best family gatherings!

3. Have you ever fired a gun?

No, but I want to! It is on my list of things to do sometime soon.

4. Do you ride roller coasters?

Yes. I love riding roller coasters!

5. What's your favorite flower?

I love lilies. Tiger lilies are my favorite, well, because they are orange, I guess. They were the main flower in my wedding bouquets. Chris brought home a bouquet of lilies for Mother's Day. When he gave them to me, he said, "I got you your favorite flower." He knows me well!

6. Are you allergic to anything?

Yes, I suffer from seasonal allergies, and I am allergic to cat and dog hair. We have a cat, but I do not pet him, and I keep my bedroom door shut at all times, so he does not curl up on my pillow. That would not be a good thing.

Last week I wrote about how we teach our children about their bodies and sexuality, and I shared five of my favorite things

I enjoyed reading Jenny's post on body image and Amelia's book review. I made Sarah's banana bread recipe, and it was yummy!

I hope you have a great week!
