Summer Reading Update {one}

I wrote about my summer reading list way back in May. I have made some progress, but not as much as I would have thought that I would make.

I knew that I would not have much time to read until after the school year ended. What I did not expect was that I would not be very motivated to read.

Truth be told, picking up a book is the last thing I do these days. Recently, I have preferred spending my free time knitting while watching a show on Netflix. Add in the 30 to 60 minutes of exercise that I am trying to fit in a day, and that leaves very little time for reading.

To keep myself motivated, I have decided to update the list and do a short review of the books as I finish them, but I want to keep my book reviews quick and easy.

I made up a very simple review system. Seriously, I am going for very easy, nothing in depth.

Here is my book rating key:

So far, I have finished one book, decided to take three books off the list, and added two new books. Currently, I am haphazardly reading three books. Let me quickly tell you about them all.

The Finished Book

Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh

It gets three stars! I had trouble getting into it at first, but once I finished reading two-thirds of it, I did not want to put it down.

Removed From The List

Kristin Lavransdatter: The Bridal Wreath, The Mistress of Husaby, and The Cross written by Sigrid Undset

I am not ready to read these books, so back to the shelf they go!

Added To The List

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

Teaching From Rest by Sarah Mackenzie

Currently Reading

The Secret of Chimneys by Agatha Christie

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

The Little Oratory by David Clayton and Leila Marie Lawler

It took me almost two months to update my list, but I plan on updating the list and reviewing the books that I have finished every other week until I complete my list.

What have you been reading? What books are on your list?

  1. Erica, I have to tell you--I absolutely love the look and aura of your blog. I've been catching up on back posts, and I am so impressed with the professional-looking design and with the quality of your writing. There are so many interesting posts I've missed (I've really been out of it lately--I'm having enough trouble keeping up with my own, never mind reading the blogs of others!). I'm trying to do a little catch-up today, and I'm enjoying going through the archives of Saint Affairs. :)
