Yarn Along {thirteen}

Knitting: Easy Lace Scarf

I love this pattern! It is easy to remember, and I can knit and talk or knit and watch a show and not make a mistake. I think I may want to spend the next year knitting five more scarves in this pattern. Plus, my favorite yarn to knit with is fingering weight, so this pattern is a combination of all of my favorites; easy, not boring or frustrating, and fingering weight yarn.  I just attached my third and final ball of yarn. I hope to have the scarf finished by the end of the month.  And then I may start another scarf, seriously!

Our Summer Trip {2014}

We packed the Prius to capacity early Tuesday morning and hit the road. We had planned several destinations to visit along our five-day trip.

Late Tuesday morning we arrived at our first stop, Shenandoah National Park in Front Royal, Virginia. We entered onto Skyline Drive, ready for adventure. Unfortunately, the fog was thick, so we did not get to see much during our drive.

Rejoicing With My Family This Week

Chris is home with us this week, and we are very excited to be able to spend our days with him. I have a couple inspirational pictures scheduled to post, but I won't be on the computer this week. I will be too busy enjoying my family!

I hope you have a blessed week!

7 Teas to Love {7 Quick Takes}

I am a coffee drinker. I love coffee. I start every morning with a fresh cup of hot coffee with just a smidgen of half and half. It is my favorite thing to drink. But I can only drink it in the morning. For some reason unknown to me, if I have a cup of coffee in the afternoon it makes me feel unwell. My stomach hurts, and my head starts to spin a little. It is crazy, I know, but it is true.

Part of the reason that I love coffee is because I enjoy a mug of something hot to drink. So I had to find an alternative to coffee in the afternoons, and I knew hot chocolate was not the answer. I have tried to drink it, but after only three sips, I have reached my sweet limit.

Enter onto the scene tea. It allows me to have a mug of hot liquid in my hand, with the negative side effects of an afternoon coffee splurge.

And believe me when I tell you that an herbal tea can be good for you! I am not a healthcare professional, but you can quickly research the different herbal teas and the benefits associated with them online. Here is a list of seven of my favorite teas and why I love them.

His Love Renews

I have had a hard summer. It started with my grandmother passing in May, a lingering health issue, and crazy fast weight gain. Needless to say, I felt like I was run over and left on the side of the road, wounded and hurting.

Then I developed a wound on my leg that just would not heal. For almost thirty days, I fought the infection. And I thought, "Seriously God? What do I need to learn from all of this?"

I felt restless. I felt stuck. I longed for change. I considered seeking employment. I was sure that I should be doing something more with my life. I know why I lost my way. I allowed my negative feelings to overcome me, and I stopped praying.

I felt very discouraged, like nothing I spent my time doing was significant. It sounds like crazy talk, but it is true.

Eventually, I started praying again. First halfheartedly, and then more fiercely.

Finally, it all became clear to me. I do not need more. I need to continue doing what I am doing and do it well. God has gifted me three fine boys, to love and teach. The course that I have been on for years is the one that I meant to be on. I am feeling better now, hopeful.

I am not sure if it was a good thing or bad thing that it took grief and illness to help me really appreciate where I am in my life and be happy with the woman that I am.

What I do know is that having been through this ordeal has made me stronger, more confident in my abilities. It has made me more grateful than I have been in a long while.

It has brought me closer to God, and honestly, I think that is the most important thing.

Have you been struggling lately? Have you been bent low under the weight of your pain? I hope you know that God is always there for you. He is supporting you, even when you are in too much agony to realize it. You may feel like you are suffocating, but He is there, fighting for you and breathing new life into you.

Fearless on Facebook

If I am completely honest, I must tell you that I am not really fearless on Facebook. I rarely update my personal profile. I update the Saint Affairs page more often. This week I posted the newest Bible verse that I am memorizing. I realized this morning that I had not shared it here, so there you go!

This week, I also shared Cari's beautiful article about women suffering from infertility and sub-fertility. If you have not read it yet, please take a moment to read it. It is called Invisible Struggle

And this morning I posted a picture of my son and my nephew from a couple years ago with a quote from Mother Teresa that I love.

If you have not yet liked the Saint Affairs Facebook page, I hope that you decide to! I would love to connect with you there. :)
