My Sunday Best #3

In last week's My Sunday Best post, I announced that I had three blog posts planned for last week, but I only managed to write two. By Friday, after such a sad week, my thoughts were low, and I found that I couldn't put the final touches on my 7QT post. It was full of family and pregnancy updates. I felt like those things weren't important at the moment, and I couldn't put into words my feelings, so I decided not to finish the post. At the time all I could do was pray, and not even deep, meaningful prayers, the kind I felt the were needed. Only sort quick prayers because the tears would come and I would be lost. But short prayers are enough. I know that. Sometimes I feel that I have to do something, that praying isn't enough, but prayer is powerful. It is only in my desperation that I forget.

22 weeks, 4 days

Yesterday I wore the same dress that I wore in my first My Sunday Best post. It is still a little big, so I have hopes of being able to wear it through the rest of the pregnancy. The cardigan is from Target. I had to wear flip flops again because my foot is still swollen and painful and my sandals are not fitting. I wear an ace bandage every day, but I took it off to go to Mass. Hopefully, I will be completely healed by the end of the week.

Father gave a wonderful homily yesterday about taking care of our neighbor through our actions - not just with words and not through government programs. For what good is it to say that we support a government program but look the other way when we come face to face with someone who is suffering and in need of care? We need to use our hands by being present with those who need care and making sure that their needs are met to the best of our ability. That isn't always easy for those of us with small children, but one of the things that we can do is to teach our children to be kind and charitable. I realized that I need to encourage the boys to pray An Act of Love every day and ask them how they want to help take care of those around us that are suffering and in need.

I am praying for all of you to have a blessed week!
