Yarn Along 2016 {one}

Yarning along with Ginny today.

For months I could not knit. Morning sickness made it hard for me to concentrate on the stitches because trying to focus on each row made my nausea worse. Today I am 22 weeks into this pregnancy and thankfully the morning sickness is gone. Two weeks ago we got the news that our baby is a girl. I was shocked. I spent two days feeling uncertain. After all, with three sons and nine nephews, I have a lot of experience with boys. Then my excitement hit, and I began to realize all the new, wonderful experiences that this late in life daughter will add to our family.

With the knowledge that I had a baby girl to knit for and with renewed energy, I started knitting again. Shortly after finding out I was pregnant in March, I started knitting the Julian Vest with Knit Picks Comfy Worsted that I had in my stash. I didn't get far before I had to abandon it to a basket on the shelf. I have since picked it back up, and will finish it before the weekend. Since I like to have more than one project going at a time, I also cast on the Garden Trellis Dress with G.Sheller Merino/Silk Fingering. I have knit this dress once before for a friend's daughter. I left the diamond eyelets out that time and decided to do the same this time. I think the muscadine color is pretty enough that the eyelets won't be missed.

Currently, I am rereading Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I listen to an audio recording of it while I knit, and then read the book late at night when I am in bed. Pregnancy has always been a time when I choose to reread favorite books instead of new books. I have found with my inability to concentrate for long and my heightened emotions it is best to stick with stories I know and love.

What are you knitting or reading? I would love to know your favorite patterns to knit for girls.
